Tube or jar?

Are you unsure whether to choose a tube or jar for your product? If you produce cosmetic products, you can choose from many different types of packaging. In this post, we will illuminate the advantages of tubes and jars, respectively. Hopefully it can give you an idea of which type of packaging is right for your product.

Cream Jars

The cream jar is a traditional packaging. The container is beneficial for skin care products in many ways:

• Packaging increases shelf life
• The container prevents the degradation of light
• It is hygienic and clean
• The jar has a good barrier property
• The contents of the packaging are visible
• You have the opportunity to use up the entire product content, reducing product waste
• The jar is an environmentally friendly solution

Cream jars come in many different materials, but we have chosen to highlight two types: glass and plastic jars.

Glass Jars

Glass is a sustainable material with many environmental benefits. Below we have listed some reasons why a glass jar is a good packaging choice.

• Glass is made from raw materials
• The material is 100% recyclable and can be used again and again
• 80% of recycled glass turns into new glass products
• Glass is impermeable and there are no chemical interactions between the container and its products. The product therefore remains unaffected.
• The material protects the product contents from moisture and oxygen, which prolongs the shelf life of the product contents

Plastic Jars

Plastic jars are also popular for cosmetic products. Especially the material PET, which is one of the more sustainable plastics because it can be recycled. Below we present a number of advantages of PET:

• PET can be recycled
• Transportation costs are less, as the material is lighter than, for example, glass. It therefore requires less fuel when shipping and reduces CO2 emissions
• PET jars take up less space on store shelves, creating lower costs for you
• The material increases the durability of your product content
• The material protects against temperature, UV light and oxygen

Cream tube

The tube is a popular container, especially when it comes to personal care products. The advantages of the tube are many:

• Tuber are easy to store in its bag as they have no separate cap/capsule
• The product does not leak
• It is easy to dispense the product
• The packaging provides a sanitary protection of the product, since the consumer does not need to be in direct contact with the product contents
• You can dose the amount of product yourself
• The packaging is easy to use
• Enables one-handed application
