The packaging design is an important part of your product as it is the first thing the consumer encounters in-store or online. When designing packaging, there are many factors that determine whether your product differs from that of competitors. In this post, two important elements of the packaging design process are highlighted.
Colorful elements catch the eye, and for the same reason colors are one of the absolute strongest means of communication when it comes to packaging.
Colors have a symbolism and can create connotations and emotions in the consumer. At the same time, certain colors can reflect values and thus communicate the universe and values of your product. Along with the graphics, it is the job of colors to reflect the DNA of your company. The visual expression of your packaging thus tells the consumer about your values, your product category, your target audience, your materials, etc.
Several psychological studies point to the fact that colors on packaging have a major impact on consumers' choice of products, as well as which products they are intuitively attracted to. Colors are an essential element in your communication, so it is important that you consider your color choice and what it signals.

Information and mandatory text on packaging must first of all be easy to decode. It is extremely important that the product declaration and the product description are clear, information-rich text that is adequate to the purpose. To make the text easily edible and delicious, the choice of font is also a relevant element to put effort into. Fonts help communicate what consumers can expect from the product. A more text-heavy label can be simplified with a light and simple font. A simple font — combined with visual elements — would be preferable on, for example, FMCG products.
