What is PE plastic?

Polyethylene plastic (PE) is one of the most common and versatile types of plastic widely used in everyday life and industry. Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer produced by polymerizing ethylene molecules. This plastic is known for its versatility, durability, and economic benefits. There are two main types of polyethylene: low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE).

The many types of PE

HDPE is known for its stability and is used in products such as buckets, pipes, and bottles. Conversely, LDPE is more pliable and flexible, ideal for plastic bags, bottles, and carton coating. Other variants like VLDPE, LLDPE, MDPE, and UHMWPE also have their unique properties.

Molecular arrangement and density are crucial factors. Low density implies branched molecules, increasing flexibility, while high density means linear molecules, providing strength and rigidity. This affects the applications of each variant.

The usage of PE plastic

Variants with low density like LDPE and LLDPE are used for flexible products such as food wrap and plastic bags. Their toughness and low weight make them ideal for these purposes. High-density variants like HDPE and UHMWPE are employed in strength-demanding applications like crates, drums, and transport tanks. Explore our extensive product catalog to find our PE plastics.
